Well this weekend we finally got to let the cat out of the bag. Well, at least, half way out of the bag. Right after my appointment on Friday, we called my mom and Sheridan. We asked them if they would like to spend their anniversary out in Texas this year (which is right around my due date). My mom didn't catch on right away, and said that she would actually like that, as well as spending Christmas here as well. I told her that was good, because we were going to be expecting a "little visitor." My mom's reaction, after a long pause, "What kind of little visitor?", in a almost panicked tone. They finally got the hint and burst out in excitement and tears. It was so great to finally be able to get our news out in the open, and tell the people that are important to us.
Next was Mike's parents, who were in town for the weekend to look at some places to see if they might like to move here. It was really funny, because we barely had an opportunity to spit it out between the many rampant conversations. Finally, Mike just handed them the sonogram picture. His mom burst out right away with joy and excitement. Steve was still trying to figure out what the picture was! They both were so thrilled, and Rochelle has already started spoiling this child in her mind!
Leslie was originally supposed to come out to visit us as well, but had to go away on business instead. So we gave her a call on Saturday afternoon. She said she was the most excited for HER! hehe, she's going to be a great aunt!
On Saturday night, we went out to dinner with my dad and Denise and Mike's parents. We were going to wait until Father's Day to tell them, just so everyone would be there together. But Denise knew something was up right away. Once she asked if we would "keep it a secret, and not tell them right away?" I knew we had to tell them as well. We told them at the end of the night, and of course Denise knew already. Her psychic abilities are also telling her it's a boy, so we will see if she is right again. My dad looked a little blown away, but excited nonetheless.
We were so glad to be able to share our news with family in person. Although I had to tell my mom and Sheridan over the phone, we will be seeing them in July, right when I'm in my 2nd trimester, so that will be nice to spend some time together since October!
We are going to wait to tell our other friends and family in a few weeks. But if you are reading this now, you already know!
Was one of the my happiest days when we heard the news! I hope your experience being pregnant is as wonderful as mine was. Love you lots MOM
ReplyDeleteOther than the great news of having my own children, this was the happiest news ever. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy. It's better than getting a new puppy!
