Kenley is 4 Months Old!

Kenley is 4 months old (well technically now she is almost 4 1/2 months). The months are REALLY starting to fly by. And our baby has changed so much in so little time.

These are some fun facts about Kenley at 4 months:
  • She babbles and squeals all the time!
  • She smiles constantly, and is especially happy in the morning
  • She laughs! Daddy almost always makes her laugh, and I get a few here and there
  • She grabs and holds on to objects now. Last month she was swatting at toys on her playmat, now she actually grabs them and studies them.
  • She flaps her arms at her side, which makes for a very splashy bath
  • Getting close to rolling over, but not quite there yet
  • Constantly has her hands, thumbs, and toys in her mouth
  • Recognizes mommy and daddy. She now smiles and turns her head when we walk into the room
  • Her sleep has definitely regressed. This has lead to her sleeping by me most of the night. Only way we all get more than 3 hours at a time. We think this is related to teething and her 4-month wakeful period.
  • She's losing her hair! Thought we may have skipped the falling out stage, but like her mama, her hair is thinning. But it's starting to grow in lighter...no more reddish color.
  • Her eyes are still blue!
  • She can pretty much stand up, assisted by us of course

Kenley also had her 4 month doctor's appointment last week. She weighed 15 lbs. 8 oz. (but they weighed her in her diaper, so I'm guessing she was closer to 15 lbs. even). She was 24 1/2 inches long. That puts her 4 lbs. heavier and 2 inches longer than her 2 month appt. She is in the 80th percentile in weight, and 50th in height.

We are holding off on starting solids until at least 6 months, and the doctor agreed that she is thriving on just breastmilk, so no need to rush the solids. We will probably skip cereal all together, and head straight to veggies, when the time comes. Although it will be a fun, new challenge once she's on solids, I definitely enjoy breastfeeding, and will miss it and our bonding time once she's eating different foods.

All in all, we are loving this age! They say that between 4-6 months is the golden age of babyhood, as babies start to have a fun personality, but you can still put them down on the playmat and they aren't moving yet. We've definitely enjoyed this age so far, and eat up the smiles and laughs! Now if only we can get the sleeping under control, we will have the perfect baby! :)
